Request Forms Expedite Your Research and Document Retrieval

For 24/7 service, OCLS maintains a request form that prompt students and faculty for the information required for a timely response.   This form is found throughout these OCLS pages.

Fill out this form to request coaching in research strategies.   OCLS librarians will either phone to walk you through the initial steps of the research process, or upon request they may furnish a "research guide" an email document with appropriate coaching on the terms and operators needed to research the specific question.

The same form may be used to request materials on a topic. For example, a student preparing for a CLEP or DSST/Dantes test may request that an OCLS librarian find one or more books on the subject.   Or a student whose grades indicate a deficiency in grammar or math skills may request books or Web resources which provide practice opportunities.

OCLS also maintains a form for faculty to request videos mentioned in their curricula.

The advantage of these forms is that they prompt users for needed information, and that they allow communication to occur at any time.

Services Offered by OCLS Librarians and Staff

Most adult learners take their courses online or at education centers, and these students should contact OCLS when assistance is needed.

The staff of Off Campus Library Services were involved with developing curriculum for non-residential students, and these librarians know the typical assignments a student confronts.   The OCLS staff have a "research guides" developed for a common course research topic.   These guide the student in the appropriate research strategies in a timely basis.   Because the OCLS team is trained and equipped to serve students in remote locations, those students should contact OCLS to request help with library research and APA.

Jackson Library and OCLS Each Serve a Specific Clientele

Library service to students at Indiana Wesleyan is the responsiblity of two specialized teams:

  1. The Jackson Library staff and website primarily serve those who reside on the campus in Marion; and,
  2. The Off Campus Library Services (OCLS) staff and website serve non-residential students and their faculty.

Non-residential students and faculty should contact OCLS for research assistance.
